Problem was a fuse. IIRC there are different fuses for auto light and lights on setting.

Resurrecting a very old thread - don’t suppose you know which fuse/fuses? The fuse box identifier is vague at best.
I’ve got the exact issue as the first post - auto xenon lights, all working fine, all other indications show on instrument cluster EXCEPT the ‘your lights are on’ one.
My only other guess is that it could be a bulb?
I spoke to a LR specialist x3 and they all seemed baffled and unsurprisingly suggested replacing the complete cluster at a cost of £700 😳🙄 no thanks
Hi Will,
I'm sorry, indeed I do not remember. It was when I first picked up the car and I wasn't into the whole scene yet. Also dealer fixed it right away so I gave it no thought. Can't look it up now; the D3 has gone 3,5 years ago It will never be forgotten...
It is also true that the early models had no 'lights on' indicator on the instrument cluster. Mine was a preproduction and it didn't have it. Later on, some (if I remember correctly) orange warning light was sacrificed to create space for a green 'lights on' indicator. I had my software updated by Bodsy and at that point the orange light which had nothing to do with it was used as 'lights on' .
But anyway; if your car is 2005, you will not *have* a 'lights on' indicator and that is not because of a blown fuse, it just isn't there!
