Newbie question about folding the third row of seats

Hello. I have a newbie question: do you have to do something special to latch the third-row seats properly when you fold them down?

I bought a lovely 54-plate Disco 3 just before Christmas, and it has been a joy so far. When I looked at the car all the seats were up, and when I picked it up the third row seats were folded down and an LR rubber protector over them. Yesterday for the first time I needed the whole load area, and when I was unfolding the second row I had another look at the third row too.

When I folded the seats back down, one of them clicked into place nicely, but the other wouldn't. It goes flat if you put a bit of weight on it, but left to its own devices the end is ~2cm above the load bay floor.

It's not a big deal, but I'd prefer everything to be working properly. Am I missing something obvious about how the third-row seats latch down?

Thanks.

Hi there and welcome. Thumbs Up

You get up early Wink

The seats shoudl go flush and latch with an audible click. Is there anything underneath it restricting it folding?? There isn't much space between the seat facing and the boot floor so anything will restrict it. Mine don't drop away completely by themselves but the only effort required is to push enough to latch it down.

Is the seatbelt catch folding down ok, I have to push mine down as I fold the seats down as it stays stuck up and prevents the seats going right down

When folding down you use the top latches, this will fold the backrest down to the seat bottom,
You then use the strap located in the centre of the uderside of the seat and put slight pressure to put seats flat.

The out side lever on the outside seats lifts the seat up to gain entry to the 3rd row( or the strap located in the centre of the rear seat bottom does the same job.

Hope this helps

They are a bit mind boggling when you first use them but after that easy as !

funnily enough this happened to me this afternoon when i folded all rows down to load up for scotland, it was teh second row not third row though,

the culprit was the pull strap that is used to lower the seat into the floor, had a slight twist so it was pulled all the time,,

3rd row

the seat back needs a firm push down to make it lock
as said the seat buckle needs to be stowed into its cavity
 BREXIT - done properly.

If the seats are not clicking down into place properly then its most likely that the pull cord you pulled to release and drop then has twisted. this will prevent the seats locking into place.

simply put your hand underneath the seat and straighten it out.

hope that makes sense

and Welcome Thumbs Up

Edit - i think you are talking aout the third row (rear seats) - I should read more thoroughly Embarassed Rolling Eyes
