New Warranty Direct Policy
Hi All,
For anyone who might be interested, I've just finished negotiating with Warranty Direct and after a few phone calls have agreed on the following:
Cover: ExtraCare (including suspension)
Discounts: £828 original price reduced to £725
Additions: Betterment clause removed; 13 months cover; £50 excess reduced to £25
Vehicle: 2008 D3 with 77k miles
I read through loads of threads on here first to figure out what others had paid, so I'm pretty happy with that given that it's an 8 year-old car. Hopefully it will pay itself off one day - but at least in the meantime I'll sleep easy knowing that I'm protecting in my inaugural year of D3 ownership.
Seems like a good deal, worth negotiating a longer period of cover ie 3 years, as this stops them dropping the cover level after 13months due to an increment being passed in their mileage table.
Of course that depends on you having funds available to do that now!
From past experience, negotiations at inception are better than negotiations at renewal

Try and get airbags and emissions in there as well.
Removing the betterment clause is a real win. I've just had a diff replaced so lost >£500 down to the betterment issue.
Excess less so but obviously helpful.
Going for a longer policy will reap additional discount but you do pay it all in Y1 even if on instalments____

Would this cover items such as lower knocking bushes or would that be a wear and tear issue. The garage I bought the Disco off last year offered me WD but I was a bit bamboozled by all the T's and C"s
Couldn't find anything on the website about removing betterment clause??

Yes, WD overs bushes that need replaced due to wear & tear. There is a 90 day exclusion if you are not coming from a warranty.
