New tyres to buy!
HI All
Due to a to deep cut down to canvass in a rear tyre I am looking for options. Have to replace damaged one as it will fail MOT due in November.
My vehicle is Disco 4 2015 on 255 x 55 x 19's average 8k miles per annum now.
Remaining Wranglers have 5/6 mill tread left but with winter and caravan towing ahead I am thinking of buying 4 new tyres rather than mess around. Only had 22k from the first set and with only 18500 miles so far on this set this may be an expensive but perhaps safer damage limitation job.
Live in New Forest and really only road driving now except for placing caravan on and off from any site - often grass of course but some hard standings particularly in winter months.
Any recommendations or comments on the above good, bad or indifferent or others tyre makes to consider would be really appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

I’ve had grabbers before and I think Duratracs are better.
I haven’t had the newer grabbers though, which i assume are the ones you’re referring to. I went for Duratracs over them as well.
Duratracs are a great all round tyre for a D4 in my opinion!

Hi Moo
Why do you favour the AVON AX7?
That is one I lloked at but was not sure about the wear issues?

I've had GGAT3 and Duratracs. Best were the Durtracs but the Avon AX7 is as good if not better. Its quiet, has loads of grip in the wet and on dry surfaces, has a good speed and weight rating, was cheaper than the Durtracs and available.
I'm very particular about tyres because they are the bit that keeps 3 tones of steel brick on the road with my family in it, such that I even change mine at 4mm tread.
I took a punt on the AX7 after my local tyre fitter suggested it and I must say I am very impressed.
The fast trip back to the UK from the Dordogne to beat quarantine when I was fully loaded with 4 people, the dog, four bikes, expedition fridge, all the cr4p we take on holiday and driving quickly in biblical rain sold them to me. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
