New Owner - Parking Brake Maintenance

Hi

I'm a new D3 owner - 2007 SE Auto.
I've read all the horror stories about the EPB and I wonder what I can do in the way of ongoing maintenance in order to minimise the risk of expensive repairs.
From what I've read it doesn't look as though there is much you can do to the actuator but you can probably focus maintenance on the shoes and their operating parts.

Is it sensible to minimise use by using Park whenever possible, or is it best to keep exercising it to ensure operating parts don't start to sieze ?

Any advice please ?

Some will say use it, others say not. Personally I use it all the time. Just adjust it from time to time. Take a look in my sig for a link that will help you. Thumbs Up

Those that don't use it... I have seen a lot lately with the lever arm inside the disc seized, causing the handbrake to drag on that side. They sieze through lack of use.
I would suggest using it is a good idea.

Steve

electric handbrake

i had a problem with my last d/3 06s model, often the would be a loud squeaky noise from the o/s rear wheel,it lasted for 15-20 yards, took it to stealer as still in warranty, they stripped it all down etc, afterwards all ok,they put it down to lack of use by prev owner, also said to use the auto release occasionaly.another thing they advised was to use the air suspension regularly when parking etc so as to keep all the bits working.
cheers
