New Owner! New Journey!
Hi All!
I have just put a deposit down 2007 Discovery 3 HSE spec and will be picking it up next weekend!
Everything seemed to work when trying out all the buttons, a few nicks here and there but in general it looked tidy!
A few questions that hopefully your knowledgable folk can assist with
The wing mirrors are electric but they don’t fold in when locking, the driver seat is memory seat and ithe electrics works when testing ( didn’t test the mem function) but I thought electric folding mirrors was standard?
There is no locking wheel nuts just standard wheel bolts all round - are these an easy source?
The key case was worn and needs replacing, what I understand this is quite easy when buying a replacement case - do LR supply these and how much or is it better buying this elsewhere?
There is only one key, a video I watched suggest that repogramming new keys can be done through IID tool?
Is there anyway to determine the cars previous service history, it has the log book and service stamps at every 10k roughly but no details about what was carried out.
What would be the first things to check over;
gearbox oil flush and new gearbox filter which does require gearbox cross member removal
Cam belt change with oil pump due to its defect and breaking
Anything more?
How do I go about filling a small dent?
What’s the best thing for removing small scratches around the door handles etc!
Lastly what’s the best IID tool?
Many thanks in advance and look forward to joining the clan!

Hi Daz.
I have a 2007 HSE. As far as I’m aware the mirrors don’t fold when locking, you just push the button down and they fold in.
For the key fob repair I used a company on the well known auction site, they charged £32 to replace battery and case, I posted my key on Monday and it was back on Wednesday working fine and it’s one of the only services that still has the Land Rover logo on the case.
The preferred choice of diagnostic tools is the gap IIDTool, I haven’t got one yet but it’s on my wish list.
Welcome to the club hope you enjoy it, is it your first?

Welcome.
“Best” IID is the Bluetooth version.
AFAIK, the mirrors don’t fold automatically. They’ll fold if you pull down on the mirror adjustment button.
No way to find out service history, unfortunately. It does not exist in electronic format, I mean.
I’d stay away from locking nuts, most of them go bad and rust eventually.
I had RRUK (forum member) replace both my keys a few years ago and they’ve been perfect. eBay can probably supply you empty key parts. It looked slightly more complicated than replacing the key on the D4 which I did myself.

Regarding key fob housing;
Buy one here at one of our site sponsors for less then 9 quid!
open up carefully your old one and replace the electronics... any key maker in your area can cut the blade for you...
(Replacing from the old one is not possible, as the sizes inside are slightly different.... at least on mine)
I think you are ready for 20 quid..Best regards
Harold

Thanks for the welcomes and tips!
Got a list of a few things to do when picking it up - which can’t come sooner enough!
Is the TV standard on the HSE or does it need adapting?
Not the RSE but standard hybrid TV?
Thanks

Evening all,
So just been advised that the steering angle sensor is showing up on my new car which I’m due to pick up tomorrow, the dealer has agreed they will fix the issue and is allowing me to pick the car are and take it back when the part arrives.
Is the car safe to drive like this and how long is the repair job? Read a lot about the sensors itself not being faulty but the housing that fixes to the steering column comes away and it’s that, that causes the actual issue.
What’s the likely cost for the repair?
Thanks all!

Wouldn't touch it till all outstanding repairs have been completed and you have test driven it.
They just want your dosh.
Rather wait a few days till its all sorted.
Don't want you posting 'Bought a lemon, How do I get my cash back' in a week or so
