Forum Etiquette
A lot of new members post a question rather than introducing themselves on their first post. It would be nice if you'd take 2 minutes to put a quick intro onto the forum.
Some members devote a lot of time to answer your questions, so its a courtesy to them to introduce yourselves.

What 4946 say 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Andrew (and all the others),
You are right but..
a user that finds this forum is overwhelmed with the information offered.
It is the perfect source of getting the answer to his question.
And therefor, the "say hello here for new members" is often overlooked.
I also overlooked it.
In my eyes, it's not so important because you get to know eachother afterwards if you continue to use this forum on a long term base.
I will almost sure never in my life meet most of you, but i I can help some way, just let me know as a lot of you already helped me!
starts to sound like a beatles song so over and out (please take this as my apologize for not saying hello first in 2005).

I agree captain_sugar, when I joined, I missed that thread. Maybe Martin could sort something so that when a new user signs up, they get 'forced' to post on the Welcome To Disco3.co.uk thread? The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

I do agree with the comments made above. I know its not the end of the world if people don't say hello before asking for assistance. I just thought it would be nice.
How about having an Introductions header on the front page above the General title
This would make it very easy to find and new members could start their own introduction topic In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I am in the same boat as Captain & snowy .
Great idea, Andrew, on the intro header. Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.

Maybe a new section above General?
In My case I scanned down the list thinking ooh I'll look at that and that and that. Then I saw Australia & New Zealand and jingoism caught me. That was it I was away with questions and plenty of reading. 'Bout 2 weeks latter I found Welcome to Disco3. Say Hi here. . By then with over 50 posts odd I thought it a bit silly to say Hi so late. Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,

I can go just as fast with 7.
