New or just Blanks
Jeez, I hate going on with an old topic, but I'm totally confused here Guys - I'm convinced my EGR valves are F...ed (over reving at low speeds, delayed acceleration, lower fuel economy) on my 2006 D3 43,000 miles but:
1. do I replace valves under my AA extended warranty (have already checked & they will cover it) ?
2. do I fit blanks that I've already bought?
3. if I do option 2 will I always get a fault light on my dash?
4. if I do option 2 will I fail emissions test in my July MOT test?
5. why if I'm correct in my assumption am I not getting a warning light now on my dash?
6. am I just getting paranoid about these f...ing EGR valves

Hi,
Dont think you'll get the fault light on your model only post 07 models.
See post from Josh who fitted his blanking kit today, as far as I'm aware no issues with emissions when it comes round to your MOT.

I vote "6" - as that makes you the same as the rest of us. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

1. Yes - that's what you have it for
2. No need if you do (1)
3. Assuming your 2006 is a MY06 then no you won't get an EMS warning lamp if the EGRs fail
4. I know quite a few blanked off TDV6s that have sailed through the emissions test. I don't know of one that has failed.
5. Because you probably have a MY06 (EURO III) engine which does not need to show EMS warning lamps for emission control failures. The MY07+ (EURO IV) engines must flag up a warning lamp
6. Maybe, but you mention over-revving at low speeds? This symptom combined with the other two could also be attributed to the auto box needing an oil change/flush. Do you notice any "clutch slip" in your auto box? If not, then more likely to be EGRs - especially if performance is fine once the engine is on song.
