New Jack recommendations
Hi,
As the title says, looking for recommendations for a new jack. My existing 3ton trolly jack simply does not have the reach for lifting the Disco and its a bit risky for my liking stacking blocks on it (Which I have done once)
Its only for general usage on the drive at home for DIY on the D4.Dorian Woolger

I bought an SGS jack with high lift that I think is fantastic but some people on here have had bad experiences. I think it’s great value though and is like new after 3 years despite a good amount of use. It rises quickly, is stable, weighs a ton and is easily controlled on the drop. It’s also not rusted nor the paint pealed or corrodedD4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

It weighs a ton as other have said. Not had that much use so to early to see if it stands up to regular use.
I'd have gone for this Arcan offer from Costco (membership required) as i beleive it to be better quality but it was OSS at the time & I was to impatient to wait for it to become available again

I got an Arcan when they were first on offer from Costco about 5 years ago and it still works perfectly

5 years ??? my Halfords trolley jack must be 30+ years old … I'd even forgotten it was still lurking in the garage. Baled me out a few weeks ago when I needed it, but wouldn't really have the lift in one go for anything major.

Thanks for all the replies. Will probably look at the SGS one as the specs are slightly better as far as max height goes.
My current one is a Halfords one too. t I’ve had for about 15 years and nothing wrong with it apart from the length of the arm.Dorian Woolger

The issue here is that your jack was purchased 30 years ago when things were made to last. Anything with a Halfrauds badge on it now is likely to fall apart the second the warranty runs out 2013 Discovery 4 HSE Lux | 2001 Defender 90 TD5 | 2007 Prodrive RB320
