At the pump:
The black should have continuity to vehicle ground.
The white with blue should have continuity to the 8 pin connector, pin 5.
How the FBH drives the pump does not affect the continuity of the wires 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

That was my logic.
Do you know the route of the cables back from the pump up to the FBH?
It seems there's a connector behind the OSF wheel arch liner?

Daniele has posted all the info required
There is a connector set in both lines - C2374C/C2373R. This is, as in Daniele's pics, behind the battery against the bulkhead.
White/Blue (supply) goes via pin 2.
Black (ground) goes via pin 1.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Seems to show a couple of connectors behind the wheel well, one of which carry the blue/white wire to the pump?

Different model year. You have a 2007 model year according to your profile, crwoody's is a 2006.
Various connectors were moved during the change to 2007 model year.
These differences is why the site asks for the year in your profile, it helps get the right info out 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

It's actually a 2008 model (profile amended just now!) Sorry.
But now I think I understand.
So from the back of the FBH to the harness break just behind the battery. Then uninterrupted until the connector of the pump?

Any photos of relevance which could assist others would be a massive help (thinking of myself ) as I maybe checking this route out before purchasing a pump if required.

So here's a plot twist for you.
Looking under the bonnet at the routing of the FBH wiring. I see that the connector and loom with the Blue/White fuel pump trigger wire in it, comes out of the FBH and runs down to the front of the engine bay down by the coolant reservoir and then disappears out of view.
Similar to the pic you uploaded and I've highlighted it in blue.

So the weather is improving and today I finally managed to get under the car again without getting snowed on or wet.
I did further continuity testing and tracing of the fuel pump power supply wiring back into the main transmission loom.
Incidentally, the wiring from the pump back to the heater goes back into the transmission harness and back to the engine compartment.
I was hoping to find a broken wire or chaffing of the pump wiring before it joined to large transmission harbess, but after a little testing with a piercing probe on a multimeter, I couldn’t find an issue.
So, in short, I can’t find a wiring problem to the fuel pump, but there’s simply no continuity back to the heater control multi connector and the pump.
So to stop faffing around, a ran a couple of new wires from the heater, down alongside the loom underneath the near side wheel arch, and back to the fuel pump.
I then joined these to the fuel pump wiring and then one to the back of the heater multi connector and one to the earth wires next to the heater.
So now the fuel pump has power and earth. And it works.
So that’s good.
After plugging in my laptop through the diagnostic loom and OBD adapter, I can now start the heater.
HOWEVER
The heater starts, begins to heat, then after about 30 seconds, stops and begins a cooling cycle.
There’s smoke coming out so I presume that there is combustion happening and that must mean that fuel is getting into the heater, but it just stops then cools.
I even tried to support combustion by blowing the wife’s hairdryer down the intake, but that didn’t seem to make a difference.
So, any clues anyone please??

If it’s trying to start now you have the pump wiring sorted but stopping after 30 seconds, there will be some new fault codes for you have a look at
