New engine now scrap .......UPDATE |
|
Hi all
my d3 had a replacement engine in december 2013 as the old oil pump tensioner sheared off after a cam belt change at 215,000 miles
LR gave me 60% towards a new engine i paid 4k on top (4o%) which was great it had FLRSH up to then.
Well my new engines lasted 34k miles and now tapping its head off this started in november 2018 , oil filter full of swarf found by LR cutting oil filter open.
LR say its not there problem ???? what do you members think ???
Since it had its engine its had all new suspension on every corner , arms ,air struts, hubs, shafts, discs, calipers, pads, ect ect air comp also at a small fortune....as was expecting another 200k out of the engine.

I think LR are right 👍 I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Personally I think a brand new engine should last more than 5 1/2 years and 54000 km.

yes oil changes done well before LR say to change .
34 k is still running its self in i would say and £4000 in to 34,000 miles is not value for money as well as all the rest ive paid out on top .

Thats why i spent the money on all the suspension up grading it to last 200,000 miles not 34 ,000 miles and have a scrap engine and its worth nothing now .

I do feel sorry for you, like I would for anybody loosing the engine..
Really sad that JLR didn't take responsibility for a known design fault.

Yes. don't give up find the email address of the CEO of JLR and send them a message about it or even ring him or her, they hate being bothered by things like this, JLR bought this engine in from Ford/PSA, they probably have got an agreement with them (Ford/PSA) to replace any that fail like this, it's a known problem, hopefully fixed with the latest build. don't give in, harass them till you get that engine replaced free of charge as not fit for purpose. go to citizens advice bureau. even go to a lawyer and sue the crap out of them.

Or save yourself an ulcer, accept that JLR won't give you a bean and move on.
The CEO will never even see the emails. And if he did, he has slightly bigger fish to fry than keeping someone with a 10 year old car happy. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
