Agreed, LR won’t give a beep about you or your or your engine, you’re too far down the food chain for them to even think about, ie not in a shiny new car with manf warranty left.

replace the engine every 34,000 miles that is not acceptable. JLR should be ashamed of them selves.

Meanwhile plenty out there with 150,000-200,000 miles on them, and more.

Engines lunch themselves for many reasons at all kinds of mileages. It's deeply unfortunate and expensive when it happens, but going on an unwinnable crusade for a contribution towards a 5 year old engine in a 10 year old car is only going to result in pain for one party (and it's not JLR).

To of had the first engine replaced for a cost of 4K after 215k seems a pretty good deal in first place and must of been well out of warranty even then.

Whilst 34k on new engine is very poor it is 5 1/2 yrs later, plenty out there offering 5yrs plus warranties, sadly not LR.To be honest would think any pursuit of recompense would just be a complete waste of time and probably add to your already high stress levels.

ITS all about principles 34 thousand miles is crap and Lr know theres a problem with these engines and shells spinning / bottom ends going.

I have nothing to loose on kicking up a stink for LR and getting it in the papers one way or another.

Im very ill with one thing and another all put together and can die in my sleep or any day just a matter of things happening at once , either way im dying.
Im stuck without a motor i love to use.

I can't and won't suggest what your priorities should be, but if I were facing what you are I'm pretty certain yelling into a customer services abyss would be somewhere on the back of the third or fourth sheet of paper.

JLR didn't offer a 5 year warranty from new, regardless of mileage. So on principle, they'll ignore you.

Or be that bloke on the front page of the local rag, with the sad face, the car in the background, maybe a pile of receipts. The local paper may shift a couple of extra copies and there'll doubtless be a Facebook group that will take the mickey. Www.facebook.com/angrypeopleinlocalnewspapers/?locale2=en_GB springs to mind

Your call.

I don’t know whether I’m more surprised that that page actually exists, or that you’re not the only one of my friends who follows it!

Having owned several high milers and have now got two at 170k & 150k both run beautifully. THey are used daily and get regular long trips including London to Austria etc. (Both look like new cars)

These cars love being driven all day and all night but hate sitting around or doing nothing but very short trips.

My opinion anyway and I am sorry that you have a broken car after hoping and believing it would last another 200k.

Whilst you’ve got my deepest sympathy the problem you have got is like all warranty claims against any company LR will only pay out once on the original item, once a company has replaced any item in their eyes right or wrong they have fulfilled any warranty obligation and will usually make that clear with any claim.
Take a battery for instance, original fails under warranty, a new battery is supplied usually without any problem, but if the replacement fails you will not get another replacement as the terms of the original warranty have been fulfilled.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
