It does look very, very, nice, though I suspect that this technology will evolve very quickly and the technology will date a car overnight. Mine’s display had only been out for about 9 months when I took delivery, 3 months later and it’s already “obsolete” Rolling Eyes Laughing

You watch, in 3 years time, even this will appear horribly dated and we can all look forward to paying manufacturer’s RRP for the replacement panels, as it won’t be worth an aftermarket manufacturing making replacement panels for each different year’s model change Rolling Eyes

Look on the bright side though, at least we won’t be paying V*lv* spare parts prices! Laughing

RR and RRS have moved to a 3 TFT screen layout for 2018 MY similar to the layout in the RR Velar. All New Discovery has got the 2 TFT screen layout in last years RR and RRS.

Over 4 1/2 years, beyond regular service, the Volvo has required zero spare parts. A similar one before it did the same over 5 years and 110000 km. The V50 before both of them did the same as did the V40 and the V70 classic MY00.

So you’ve not experienced the pain of buying any spares in the UK yet then?! Wink Laughing

(Volvo V70 D5 new in 2003, 2004 and 2007 and around 200,000 miles between them - all great cars - and Volvo’s in the family for most of the years since the first new 144GL in 1973!)

I buy my LR parts mostly from the UK from the usual suspects, hard to say whether they’re expensive or not Thumbs Up

The Volvos have always been serviced by the official service organization but I’ve never had to complain of anything that they’ve done to the vehicles. Regular yearly service only. In that sense I am a really happy Volvo buyer.

Lately, however, I think Volvo has tried to move even more upmarket by dropping the V70 which was an excellent minion transport and having the V90 only with a significantly higher starting price (~12000 EURish). That’s why I got a used LR after a long investigation into various alternatives.

SWMBO is convinced Volvo is the best manufacturer ever in terms of comfort and reliability. The minions love the LR because they sit much higher, the cabin is even larger, there’s the very coveted third row that’s available sometimes not to mention the V8 burble... Rolling with laughter

So in just a year, LR have identified a selling-trend different to forecast, reacted to this by designing a digital dash, produced prototypes, tested, ironed out bugs (** admittedly this step may have been skipped Whistle), found a supplier, tooled up the supplier and their suppliers, tested, and managed to produce at volume a digital dash? I know the car industry moves fast, but this would not be possible.

Back on topic, I like it much better than the original analogue set up and it was the only thing that I felt disappointed by at launch. The rear end is what it is and I've got used to it tbh. In the flesh it's fine and the car does everything it has to do very well if not a bit better than the 4. I'm an LR fan for some reason as nothing else comes close for ability across all requirements.
I'm happy that the new dash is digital as it's yet another boy toy to play with.
I've ordered one as per the colours and kit below (HSE Lux).
Before you mudpluggers have a fit, it's my tow car not my off roader.

That looks great, without a numberplate! It's shame we can't use the black and silver plates of old!

I'm not sure about the large silver apron under the back though? Stands out a mile! Should it not be black?

Laughing Laughing I am sure it was planned a long time ago and looks the same as the "old" RRS2 screen.
