New day new problem?
Whilst I’m waiting for my 2011 discovery 4 3.0sdv6 to go into the garage to have both manifolds fixed as I had the dreaded restricted power light come on a new issue has presented its self.
Has any had this issue...
When selecting reverse on a slope or incline the car revs for a few seconds before reverse engages then it’s shots back. I’m hoping this is due to the power issue but my gut tells me this could be the start of a gearbox issue.
I’ve had the car 3 months and it’s been in the garage every month so this really would be the last straw for me, it’s turning into a huge money pit as the next garage bill for the manifolds is already looking like £800-£1000
Just wondered if anyone else has had this issue.

Just to be clear it’s an auto and you select reverse on a hill or gradient, put your foot down it revs then push a bit harder and it flies back, delay of about 2-3 seconds

Mine does similar, and has done for 2 years. On the flat its perfect.
I don't think its a gearbox issue, mine is perfect.
Actually, mine only does it when I am driving forwards, stop in a hurry (like meeting a car on a narrow lane) and put it in reverse.
If I stop and wait a second before selecting reverse, there is no issue and it works fine.

if the gearboxes behave anything like the FL2 Aisin 6 speed ones then you normally had to wait a couple of seconds for the gearbox ECU to select the right gear in them.
ive noticed my D4 does it when pulling away from my drive in the mornings, foot on pedal with nothing then 2/3 seconds later its off. After that its fine all day so i assume its just because it cold.
Im planning on a gearbox flush in the near future so hopefully new fluid and filter will get rid of the hesitation. If not, then its not bothering me at the moment as its otherwise silky smooth.

So far all the comments are good to hear, I’ve completely lost faith in this as a new car as so far all it’s done is cost money.
It’s just had a gearbox flush and new filter but I do have a cracked manifold so I’m hoping because that’s effecting the power and probably the eco it’s all related. Once that’s all been fixed later in the week I’m hoping it disappears. Fingers crossed.
I tried waiting a few seconds before pushing the power to give the ecu a chance but it didn’t make any difference, it’s sporadic anyway and only in a gradient.
