New cars gone mental!

Hi all,
I bought a D4 on Sunday, drove it home and parked it up, went to start it earlier on and all the central locking went mental, headlights coming on and off, beeping coming from by air intake, hazards flashing and it wouldn’t start saying smart key not found. I left it a bit and went back and it worked fine, knocked it off and walked away and now the headlights are just coming on and off on it’s own. It apparently had a new battery a few months back and it’s a decent exide one. I can’t do anything with the car now, disconnected the negative and left it now. What do I do next?! Is it the battery low? It started on the button though when it worked. I’m worried if water has got in anywhere with all this rain lately?

It’s been in regular use but only short journeys by the previous owner, then I’ve driven it home anout 5 miles and parked it up for a week, did start it once or twice but was playing with the gadgets in it while doing so, so guessing I’ve just drained it a bit. I’ve got it on a conditioner charger now and it is charging so must have been a bit low. Hope that’s all it is Rolling Eyes

Some historically indicated that it requires 7 miles of operation to completely recover from cranking ...sounds like it needs a good run Smile

These vehicles are very power hungry and will soon flatten the battery , I trust you charging the battery will solve the issue

Hopefully so! Thanks guys, I’ve had it on over night and I’ll connect it back up later and hope that sorts it all. I’m not taxing it till March the first, is there anything I can do now to stop it happening again until I start using it next weekend? And is there any particular method of reconnecting the battery?

I don’t think the excide batteries are actually much good. What model number is it as the wrong one could give you issues.
