Caravan Show at the NEC Birmingham next week. Should compound your problem. What about an Airstream?
Your car will tow it but can your wallet stand it? There are one or two "different" British ones that may be worth a look.

Be aware that many Insurance Companies will not offer cover on these imported caravans.

Check the availablity of cover before you commit yourself to buy one.

On my second Hymer Eriba Troll. With the D3 it's the perfect combination for me and the missus. Solid, designed to last not like the plywood boxes produced in UK. You get what you pay for. Deutsche fur mich Thumbs Up

I find some of the remarks amusing Very Happy

2.5 m caravans are also produced by British makers.

The construction methods are virtually the same in all European countries - certainly not plywood boxes.

And as someone who is married into a German family I can assure you that there are plenty of Germans who moan about their caravans PLUS many are envious of the design features that British Caravans display.

BUT if you really want solid build quality along with innovation of layouts plus 2.5 m wide bodies then you can not do better than Airstream - more than 70% of all Airstream built since the 1930s are still in service.
LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF

what british caravans are 8ft wide the same as the german ones yes i agree the we seem to have better layouts and lots of extras but british stuff is not built as good as the german stuff thats why they are heavyer

Have a look at the Widnes made Eterniti (think that's how it's spelt) they have slide out sides so you get the best of both worlds, narrow van for towing and wide van when set up.

Going the NEC next week so will have another look then.
