New car
Have IID BT for my Disco3.
It s remapped and blanked from bell autos.
Appropriate patches used.
Bought a Disco 4 and an extra license to use the IID on it.
Now I am selling the Disco 3.
The best I think would be to sell it with the IID tool that has the remap and the patches.
I asked GAP if I can buy a new tool and transfer my Disco 4 license to it.
The answer I got was that this is not possible!
I have to buy a complete new tool with a new license for the Disco 4.
This will be expensive and the money I paid for the extra Disco 4 license will wasted.
Has someone experienced this?
Why can I not buy a new tool and use the license I already paid for?
Anyway I think it should b possible to buy a discounted tool as I already paid for the Disco 4 license.
Or is there another solution for my problem?

Hmmm, miscommunication somewhere me thinks. My IID had my D3, my D4 and my folks’ D4 on there all at the same time. Plus it would mean selling an IID on, a D3 registered IID couldn’t be used on a D4 with just the transfer fee. Pretty sure that’s not the case.

I think I have to give the tool to the new D3 owner as it has the remap end the patches that is needed for the D3.
But if I as GAP indicated I have to buy a new tool with a new license for the D4 at regular price, the extra license I bought is useless and the money paid wasted.
Maybe this is the only way, as there is no discount for a new tool for the D4.
Also i believe there will be transfer costs for the tool to the new D3 owner.
A costly affair.
And as WS7 points out that buying a used tool for the D4 is not an option as the saving is minimal.
I think this is something that GAP could sort out and give some bonus to a until now happy customer.

Topic owner is from Sweden... he just cares about the buyer who he is selling his D3, very thoughtfull and polite IMHO.
Very “the Scandinavian way” as I know it at least..
He wants a sensible and reasonable transaction for a license het owns and has paid for..
I can understand that... if you own a key/license and buy new hardware, it should be possible to transfer it to the new hardware.
It works that way on my iPhone, iPad, PC, etc.
If Apple and Microsoft , starting do do this.... well then the courts will be very busy I think..and even the covernment’s will kick in..
Edit; typoBest regards

Thank you Motolab for the kind words.
I really think the new owner need the IID as the remap with the patches is in the tool.
As the car is blanked and the dpf is removed the patches are necesary.
A workshop updating the CCU and removing the patches and remap will make problems for the new owner.
Anyway that is what I think.
Merry Christmas

You are welcome...
I had or have the same issue with my company van, ford transit
Remapped by vantuner (who do also very good remaps for the TDV6 by the way) and blanked the egr.
I did sell it, but gave the buyer the option, default ecu mapping and egr open, or the optional remap with tooling incl, for an extra amount (pricing of the tooling and remap)
Buyer can chooseBest regards

It is a little complicated.
The D3 cannot be returned to original.
To be able to blank I had to emtpy the DPF. So the DPF is still there but the patches take care of how the system recognizes this.
So just take away the remap and the patches will make trouble for the system and there will be fault codes.

Offer the Iid to the buyer at a reasonable price (£375) explain about the remap and buy a new Iid from Duckworths £405), that’s what I did, they come registered to one vehicle and you get 12 months warranty, you must have had £30 worth of use out of the old one, or you can just keep the old one......... D3 that is It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
