New Brake pads with odd extra item fitted.
I recently had my brake pads changed as they were getting a little low. I thought they had about 5 mm left but the dealer said they needed replacing.
I agreed to new pads and disc rotors as the car has done close to 70000 kms and i thought that was reasonably fair.
After getting them fitted i noticed an extra item on the pad that was not there before.
It is like a little metal spacer to keep the pad aligned or something.
Does anyone know why it is now part of the pad?
I tried adding a picture to this post but cant seem to work out how to add it.
I will try and add a second reply with the picture.Disco 4 SE

Land Rover's justification for grossly inflated prices? Aren't they solid silver around a large diamond?

Look like little harmonic dampers to me. Usually added to change the natural frequency of vibration. They probably had a vibration/noise issue.

This is very interesting. I have a recurrence of a vibration through the steering wheel, which disappeared 10k ago after front pads & discs replaced. I guess I should check discs for run out, but if ok, maybe I should change my pads for these puppies
