How cute would it be if the 2017 'Baby Disco' looked like Hairy Dan's Avatar.

The new age of Discovery

I have to say I'm coming round to the idea of Discovery as a brand.

Auto express did a piece late last year here http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/land-rover/76...s-4x4-boom

Those images (sorry don't know how to post those images here), and the outlines from this latest teaser are quite similar....eg the stepped roof seems be a retained design feature in new discovery......as to timeline suggested by auto express, only the bods at LR probably know!

Those spy shots above looks like Evoque body panels being used a mule on a new monocoque platform for discovery.

One great thing about that LR graphic is that it clearly shows the stepped roof of the D4. They cant easily now go and chuck that away with the D5 and give it a space sapping curved roof like the Evoque.

Having said that, judging by the new 'Freelander' Autocar shots, that vehicle wont have a stepped roof. The two cars will look quite different if the D5 does have it and the Discovery 'Sport' doesnt.

They also cant possibly call the baby disco a 'Sport' without much more powerful engines. The Macan destroyed the Evoque in performance terms in the recent reviews so hopefully LR have got their new 4cyl engines nice and hot (250+ BHP) ready for the new Discos.

Personally I'd love a D5 with just a bit more space inside (I know its huge already but you always want more), 500kg off its weight and a 320BHP 3L V6 diesel. Also under 35K to start and 45mpg+ Mr. Green

Remember

J/LR have new engines for the Jag models & these should or will be carried over to the Various LR brands
I seem to recall a mag I had that detailed these - I will dig it out
 BREXIT - done properly.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

& the scriptCar Magazine - Feb 2014 Report post

I dont often buy the glossies...unless there is something J/LR...& then may read what I need to know without buying (wrong I know but...)..this was polythene bagged so had to buy

Car magazine for next months has the cover feature of the new jaguar models....interesting

The XK-R-S GT...limited production run of 40 cars...135k price tag....for sale to 10 UK people....it has a big boot mounted "wing"

its the X760 series that is the main issue..the 3-Series contender that will include the 550 bhp R version but uses the new small 4 pot Wolverhampton made engine...that can be morphed into 3 & 6 cylinder variants........initially a 4 door saloon & estate
this also has the X761 cross over (the CX17 was the prototype)....
"that shares a line with a new LR model (L560..) that is between the RRS & the Evoque".......this is the bit that amazes me as the cars arent that far apart....

F-Type as well as hard top (out soon)...which looks amazing will also have the aforementioned engine 4 pot twin turbo version (also to go in Evoque R-S)..so line up will be R, RS & GT...also awd drive versions....

New Ally XF.....X260 Car, Estate & maybe 4 seat convertible...strangely the script says "switch from Ford DEW98 chassis"....I thought the XF was a Jaguar creation that wasn't shared....if it is or was shared with what ?

The Flagship model replacement for XK maybe called XR....on a lengthened F type chassis....Bentley & Aston contender 120ks price bracket....much more space for rear seat & boot.....coupe & cabriolet

XJ coupe...x-360.....pillarless body version...with no cabriolet

Supermini - an A2 size vehicle...Jag 2wd ....LR 4wd

all in all the X760/X761.....all good stuff 1700 more Jobs at Solihull
Quadruples Jags size.....

so the F-Type will be available with 300bhp 4 cylinder twin turbo also for Evoque R-S

J/LR......engines shared....engines developed into different cylinder number variants......Brilliant
 BREXIT - done properly.
