When you sell it you will be issued a new "60" number by DVLA once you transfer your private number off it - you won't get the original number again so you may as well throw those plates away!
Strange, when ever i've taken off a private plate the DVLA always reallocated the original plate no. - have things changed?
OP: Nice car by the way!
When we sold the D2 to make way for the D3 we didn't get back the original number, it does happen from time to time.As you slide down the banister of life

Looks fantastic...
I was in Aberdeen last week (albeit in a grotty hire car) and couldn't believe the number of D4's running around - your local dealer must be doing something right!
Enjoy..D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)

DVLA obviously aren't consistent! Every time I have transferred my private plate off a car they have allocated a completely different number to the donor car. I have done this lots of times.Paul

Nice looking motor there ukdave.
The wait on the dvla is a pain, especially when your motor's just sitting there waiting to be driven away.
Still not got my private plate transfer through. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
It took about 3 weeks when we bought the Freelander for the transfer to come through... A real pain.As you slide down the banister of life

If it was me I'd just blag a set of plates for the private number from the dealer, use the car on the standard reg then change it over once the paperwork is through. No point in having a nice shiny new car sitting in the dealer, besides someone might take the new car smell and put it in an old banger!!

Makes me sick when I check the price over here..... £115 000.... for one with 7500 miles
I feel much better now thought I was the only one paying over 100k for one.
whats really scary is range rovers sell for 260K over here. with 10yr old ones going for over 100kIt is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
