My New 59 D4 just landed :)
Well I listened the forumites and picked up my new 59 plate D4 today, and wow what a car. It's like new inside and out, and has obviously been looked after. I was fortunate enough to be able to pay a little more and get the D4 rather than the D3 and I definitely made the right call - quite a different car really, and the engine is amazing! Shame she's only got the D3 6 speed box but it still works a treat.
She seemed a little more fidgety on the road than the D3's I'd tried before and so might get the tracking check just to be sure - but she was still damned good. I averaged 31mpg on the motorway at 73 (real 70) and had a fantastic easy run back to Devon. She's an XS model, and has pretty much the same spec as the D3 SE but the seats aren't electric - but they're actually really comfy and almost have a sportier feel to them. Will have to spend some time playing the various computer based functions to get her set up right for me, but that's all part of the fun. I'm surprised more modern cars don't have more crashes considering the various toys and gadgets there are to play with on route I was also very pleasantly surprised to find she has a reserving camera too. It did seem a bit daft thought ploughing down the motorway with all this massive car, and just me, but hey, life needs a few little, well, large luxuries
Anyway, thanks to all those who offered their various comments - and I'm really looking forward to being a committed member of the D4 owners brigade. One small shame though - in my old trust defender other defenders always wave - I think I just found out that D3/D4 owners don't share that quirk

Some pics for you all. And thanks for your kind works. I do hope she turns out to be as good as I hope. Still reading the manual, it's like war and peace! And I did prefer the grey but silver was my second choice.

Not quite, went to south wales in the end, but I think you have to travel to find what you really want.

I haven't played with the satnav yet. I doubt it'll be as good as my tomtom but hey ho, I might be surprised. I think I need to play with some various settings, such as the interior light doesn't come on when I unlock the car for example, which seems odd, and I'm sure it's configurable. Just need to sit down and have play

Hold the middle button in on the front lamp unit until the lights flash and a message appears on the dash and do the same if you want that function switched off again Cheers Ian
