Need some Steering column/seat memory data

Thought I'd post this here - Since this forum is tres smart
I need some data from a working electronic steering column.
Hopefully one of you would like to run these test connections
for me and for the greater good of society.
I'm pretty sure that these tests haven't already been done before,
but if so, by all means please post them up here or send me a PM.

Please view the following diagram and measure the voltage at each of the red arrows
See more specific directions for some of the measurements.

All of these connection tests can be performed at the seat memory ECU which is under the driver seat (front portion)
You will need to detach it from the seat and lower it to perform these tests and get access to the
two needed connectors C2382 & C2384.

To gain more access to Seat Memory Ecu - Unplug the green seat switch re-route the wiring to
be able to lower the ecu and create more room - then plug green connector back in.
**Remember to unplug green connector and route wiring back the way it was before re-attaching
it back to the bottom of the driver's seat.**

Tests need to be performed with all plugs attached to ECU
Also it shouldn't make a difference with key On or Off (these voltage values were the same either way for mine)

Here is a picture of the Seat Memory Ecu & Plug Positions
If needed C2382-9 refers to the plug connector C2382 - and the pin position 9 (wire) in this plug

Here are the tests from top to bottom in the diagram

A) C2384- 9 measure voltage (ground to chassis) when column switch is moved (tilt & tele)
C2384-10 measure voltage (ground to chassis) when column switch is moved (tilt & tele)

B) C2384-12 measure voltage here (ground to chassis)- should be 5volts

C) C2384-3 measure this output relative to ground
C2384-4 measure this output relative to ground

D) C2382-22 measure here and note voltage when column switch is moved in all directions

E) Also measure between C2382-22 and C2184-3, at the memory seat ECU while
moving the column switch as well (not in the diagram)

Some info:
I have an 2006 RRSsc (Basically a D3- LR3) that came with a manual steering column.
I am changing this over to an electric steering column.
All of the wiring is there for this conversion since the HSE versions had this feature.
The location of plugs with needed wires is in the lower kick panel by left foot -US or right foot -UK)
I've followed the diagram to the "T" and connected all of the wires to their proper locations.
Checked continuity for all wires from Seat Memory Module to actual Steering Column - All Good
Gap-Diagnostics has also helped immensely (Thank you Patrick and G-Team) with loading all of the needed Steering Column configs for tilt/tele/memory, also Calibration for column etc...

The column is however still not functioning but with your help, hopefully it will be...
Have swapped out the column switch twice (with Used & New) - this isn't the cause.
Next will be the Seat Memory Module - but after I have some more data.
So if any of you are willing or need something to do....Much Oblige!

Thanks In Advance!

Yes! I'm crazy for wanting an electric steering column, just from research it has
shown to be problematic at times....But I needed a project...so here I am...

If you have any Questions/Clarifications about the above please send me a PM
Thanks Again and
You'll really be helping a lunatic achieve some sense of piece Of mind.

Problem Solved...Yippie!

Finally got a new Memory Seat ECU for my steering column conversion.
The new one is from a 2008 Rover Sport.
When I received it, I immediately opened the ECU to see if I could see any differences in
circuit components and layout. (See red box outlines)
I knew it was going to work before I even put it in car.

Steering column works perfectly - Lazy Entry - All memory positions and Manual operation!
Here's a picture of the two circuit boards: New - Left side / Old - Right side

Thanks Again to all the hard work Patrick and the Gap-Diagnostic Team did for this project to be a success!
Couldn't of done it without these fine people. Thumbs Up

Hello

I am trying to do the retrofit of the electric steering column and trying yo find the black connector for the column. I have located all of the wires going from connector C3110/C3109L and C0751/C0253L located under the driver seat (LHD). From there i can follow the cables that goes along the side up in to the footwell and here is where I loose track. I have been trying to locate the connector/plug as rOvercharged states is hidden in the "lower kick panel by left foot"
However, it is not clear if it is the C1396 (black) connector that goes directly in to the steering column or if it is the C1166L/C1168 connector.

From what I can follow I see the wires go upp above the steering under the dash and then down again on the other side (right) and over to the passenger side to the fuse central. And again it is all lost in the wires on that side.

Anyone have tried this and found the connector in the car or have you ended up buying the connector and extended the wires?

Got the same problem here I think. Not getting the electric adjustment to work after uploaded calibration with the great help from Patrick at Gap.

So I went back under the seat to take out the memory ecu and checked the circuit board.
The product code is YWC000785, hardware version 5.0 and software version 9.2. My unit is missing the circuits that r0vercharged shows in the above photo.

When searching the sales site, I find that there is two product code where above is one and YWC500800 is the other one.

Is there anyone out there that can look if they have the later one and open it up to check if the circuits are there? Is there different hardware versions of the YWC000785?

Got the new memory module today, with product number YWC500800. This unit have the correct IC's mounted and worked directly Smile

One tip for the brave ones trying to do this upgrade is to contact the breaker and ask him to open it up and take a photo of the circuit board before ordering the unit.

Also, big thanks to Patrick from GAP-Diagnostics!

Connectors footwell

Doing the same retrofit, did you end up finding the connectors by the footwell?
