Need help wiring spotlights on Discovery 4. |
|
First post!
I've searched for answers, but did not find any...
I want to install two spotlights on my Disco 4. But I cant figure out what wire on the headlight connector that is the feed to the highbeam bulb or the xenon shutter?
I have no need for an internal switch, oh! and the car has Bi-xenon headlights.
Any help or tips are much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
/Henrik

I don't think you can wire a aux spot light straight into the back of the headlight as Bi-Xenons use a much higher voltage Never get mad - get even !!

Are you fitting the LR spotlights? If so, they should be supplied with a wiring harness and instructions.
If the spotlights are not part of a LR kit, and you want them to work independently, you need to make up a harness with a relay that takes you to the main switch board under the bonnet (left hand side) and also create a suitable earth connection. You will need a switch in the system to turn them on and off.
If you connect them directly to your bi-xenons, I reckon there's a fair chance that you'll be in some difficulty.

You can fit like OEM spoties (which needs enabling as well) or use a relay attached to the halogen infil lights. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

It's not the oem LR sportlights.
I have a wiring harness with a relay that came with the spotlights, it's that relay that needs a signal to engage whenever I turn on the main highbeams. I've done this installation on two seperate Freelander 2's already.
On the Freelander 2 there is an orange wire going into the headlight connector that you splice into to get a signal to the spotlights relay. It is that wire I'm looking for.

MrH
Does this wiring work if you have bixenons ?
If so, any chance you could also supply me a wiring diagram as I cannot seem to locate one on the net.
Regards,
Brett
