I'd like that one too. Maybe someone could attach it to this post.

Is it possible to wire the spots to the high beam? So that they will go on together with the high beam?

Just wiring a relay to high beam should work. Idea

If you want to trigger a relay using the main beam feed then the wire colour should be blue/black on one side or blue/grey. This is the wires that go into the big plug on the back of the lights and does not have the high voltage for Xenons as the unit is inside the headlight.

that's the answer I've been searching all night for Russel! Thumbs Up

I need to splice into a high beam feed for my spot lights, but as I'm also in the middle of a facelift/xenon upgrade I was worried there'd be too much power.
Logic assumes that the MY12 wiring loom will still feed the MY15 headlight cluster with the same power? Therefore splicing into the blue/grey at pin 10 that operates the Motor shutter, is the wire to use? Motorshutter remains live whilst the high beam is switched on?

So many questions!

Hi Folks

Just bought a disco 3 (08 Plate) to replace my Disco 2, and as I am electrically challenged could use some advice (ideally step by step) of how to wire spot lights!

Ideally I would utilise the secondary spot light switch (not Yet purchased) as I understand this will allow me to control if they come on when high beam is used or operate independently.

Is their a suitable kit available?
What size cable/Grade should I use?
Wheres the best place to get through the bulk head?

I have spent the morning looking through various threads, and plucked out some information however still don't feel I have all the info I need.

If I can gather enough help, I may do my version of an idiots guide with pics and add to the forum to help others.

Stay safe

Hi Solstice,

I fitted a bar a couple of weeks ago, best entry through the bulkhead is from the aux battery compartment (drivers side under bonnet) there’s a spare grommet that comes out just above the gas pedal. Best to get a light bar harnes from eBay or similar as it’ll have the relay, switch and cabling pre-built.

For control, if you cut the switch wire from the relay and splice to the high beam instead then switch will only receive power when high beams are on so all good.

Hoping to get out and fit a split charger and battery today / tomorrow depending on when Hermes decide to deliver so can take photos for clarity

Harness and switch were eBay,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-40A-LED-Wor...890.l49292

And then added an RDX switch so I could set it into a frame

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RDX-Ku-BLUE-LED...890.l49292

But have a look around, switch depends on what you want and where you intend to fit it.

Hi Solstice,

As promised, started fitting the aux battery and took the photo of the grommet on the drivers side

Pop the driver side battery cover off and you’ll see it, I twisted a wood drill bit through from this side, that will make a hole in the drivers footwell carpet that you can pull the cable through, then just route it behind the dash

Thanks Kevin D3

How does it work using the land rover spec Aux spot switch,

Has anyone got advice on which pins to use in the back of the switch?
