Need help with new EPB on 2008

Hi all, I wonder if anyone could have useful insights on what’s going on with my 2008 Disco (87K miles).

Work done three weeks ago:
EPB module upgraded following failure of original one
All brake pads, discs and shoes changed
Coolant expansion tank bottle and sensor changed
Bonnet sensor changed

Today: intermittent warnings from both the coolant tank + the EPB with “Park Brake Fault” and the red flashing sign. Sometimes the car starts with the warnings, sometimes not.

The few times I drove after the work was done I could hear a “clonk” noise (coming from underneath in middle of car) within the first 100 yards of driving and then nothing. Mentioned it to the mechanic but he said he couldn’t hear it when he took it for a spin.
Last Wednesday, I forgot I was driving a diesel (always had petrol up to now) and didn’t wait when I started the car by -5*C. Got a Transmission Fault warning + as soon as the car would start, it would die. Spoke to the mechanic who kindly reminded me of the waiting before fully starting it up and it’s worked perfectly since (felt very blonde indeed then........).

Anyway, as a note, we had to change the battery in September and the EPB jammed a month later, in October, with no warning. It was released but not working. We were advised by LR to change it. My trusted mechanic (not LR and not indy either) did the work, liaising with LR (for parts + to get software updated). Took a while before we got the work done as we were trying to get the dealer who sold us the car in August to take care of it but he wouldn’t (that’s another story.....).

Any insight would be useful. I’ve read a lot about EPBs failing but nothing about a recently upgraded one giving trouble. With 3 under 6 and living in the middle of nowhere, I’m starting to lose faith (and my brain) right now.
Thank you!

When you had the new epb fitted did you also replace the epb shoes and springs, even fitting a new epb module needs to have the rest of the system adjusted fully and to spec.
You need to strip the rear brakes and make sure its all free and in working order, then adjust it to bodsy brake bible in the wiki section of the board.

Flack Thumbs Up
