I've not had my D4 long and so haven't been out much after dusk but I have noticed that the sat nav doesn't seem to change in the Auto setting - or, rather, it did once for about 5 seconds and then changed back to day mode?!?!
It's going back to the dealer to have one of the rear door handle courtesy lights fixed (on back order...) and so I will ask about it then but would be interested if anyone finds a fix in the meanwhile.

So which dusk sensor do the auto-lights use then ?.....surely its not different to the nav one ? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Autolights and rain sensor are behind the mirror in the windscreen ....and yes it's different 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Exactly ...so the question is why ? ....who decided there are 2 different levels of "dusk" ?....one dusk for your lights and one dusk for your sat-nav.....too many cooks methinks...and clearly one more level of complication that is utterly pointless....rant over "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Because the light levels and conditions experienced inside the cabin differ from the outside ?
I take it from your comments that you obviously don't understand what they do and how they work 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

....I don't believe for a second that 2 functions (which both have manual override remember) require 2 different sensors...nor are the amounts of internal and external light at dusk sufficiently different to justify the sat-nav to change at a light level 10 minutes different to the auto-lights....
..or am I just being thick ? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Rubbish....I can buy a £20 security light from Homebase that knows the difference between daytime and nightime....why can't the sensor on Hairy Dan's £50k Land Rover ?..... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

So,
The car was in the dealer's this afternoon for the "Hesitation Fix" (I'll have to drive it about a bit before I can comment on whether that's worked or not) and I got them to have a look at the sat nav's Auto function.
Their conclusion was........
It doesn't work
They'll let me know if they come with anything more helpful.

I have exactly the same issue. I took my car in, they upgrade the software (March 2014) and said they had tested it and it was all working fine now. I drove home. It didn't work.
I took it back. They apologised (ish) said it was fixed again. I drove home. It didn't work.
I can't be bothered with them again so just have it set on night mode all of the time - better to be straining to see it in the day than distracted at night.
Hopefully a fix will emerge soon. I'll let you know.
