So, I had a look at this and I'm confused.....
First I tried to check my VIN, the update says:
Quote:To check product compatibility with your Discovery 4 Model Year 12, you must ensure the number contained in your VIN number is below SALLSAAAD4CA643045.
Any number above this means you are already driving with the most up to date map.
My VIN only has 17 characters not the 18 in the example, it doesn't have the "S" after the "LL" - is that just a typo in the example VIN?
The last 6 numbers if my VIN are lower than the example, but mine is preceded by G5CA rather than D4CA. Is G5CA****** a higher number than D4CA****** or is it only the numbers after the CA that I need to look at?
Then I read the FAQ about the upgrade process:
Quote:Q13. How long will it take to download the map data?
The complete download process may take up to 2.5 hours dependent on the amount of information in the map region download. An example of current USB download times is shown in the following list:
• Europe - 2 hours 25 minutes
Do I really have to leave the ignition on for 2.5 hours to do the update? Obviously that's only possible with the engine running, so can't do it whilst the car isn't in use and if I'm driving for 2.5 hours I'd rather listen to some music and probably need the navigation working anyway!

Back from Dealers..who were pretty clueless to be honest....
They did look it up tho & quoted me £169 which I declined
Couldn't be arsed to push em for discount as wasn't going to do it either way Cheers Ian

The example VIN given is a kind-of a Range Rover Sport VIN number but it also has a typo in it 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!
