MY12 - No Microphone installed
Here's a new one for you.
I took delivery of a new disco4 last week.
Although bluetooth paired my phone no worries, people couldnt hear me when I spoke.
Then I tried the voice activation, and I get the message "Speech not detected".
Today the dealer inspected the vehicle and said there was no microphone installed, he installed one and everything is fixed now.
Now which pimply spotted kid forgot to install my microphone?
How can this happen?

Presumably not part of the PDI inspection to check that the voice control is working....?
So this is not obviously a part of the $1000 pre-delivery inspection...

I had something similar, my car was ex-Landrover 12 months old, and the rear tailgate wouldn't open on the keyless entry, got the dealer to look at it, and yes the sensor was missing, never been fitted. That lad must be busy not putting things on cars
So glad LR standards haven't dropped overr the recent years

You just have to ask on the factory tour what happens if a widget isn't available at a station when the car gets to it. The answer (on 2 different tours) was the car merrily goes on it's way without it. I asked what happens then, does it go for rectification, the answer was depends if it was important or would have prevented it driving off the line at the end. Minor parts not fitted might not have even been noted for a particular vehicle. You just have to realise something isn't there before the warranty dies, after that it's
