my12 Hse can ypu play DVDs? or mpeg4 on infotainment screen
Hi All,
I was in having a mooch around a new showroom D4 and noticed that there was a DVD/Video button on the Infotaiment screen. I'm not sure if the car had the Digital tv option as I couldn't see it on the display.
Does the system now play DVDs or does it need the TV option box to be ticked ?
Also Can mpeg4 files be played on the system using an ipod/ipad .
I cant seem to find this out on the Disco4 spec on the LR site any one know?
Thanks
Neil

You can play DVDs from disc and it should play video files from USB (but I haven't tested video from USB yet). You can't play video whilst the car is moving though and the infotainment system shuts down every 10 minutes if the engine isn't running so the ability to play video isn't exactly useful!
I was thinking of a newer D4 and getting one with the TV as this would be particularly useful when the wife and daughter say.. " we'll only be a minute in this shop"
But if I change then I'll probably just put some DVDs in the Cubby and a flask!!
Cheers

So complete dunce moment then ...I'm getting a TV but no RSE ...are you chaps saying it will play DVD's through the front screen ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
My kids have been enjoying watching DVD's in the back of our new HSE Lux.
The only slight problem I have is that you have to turn the left and right screen on each time and select the DVD as teh input each time you restart the car.
I can not work out how to get both rear screens playing DVD's from the drivers screen, it only ever seems to allow me to select just one rear screen!!
Happy to be proved wrong on what I am doing re setup of course!!Nige - 2014 Disco 4 TDV6 HSE Luxury - Scotia Grey

Yes it will (at least on the 12MY - I don't know about others).
I haven't got TV or RSE but I can watch DVDs on the Nav screen if the car's not moving.

12MY D4 XS will play xvid files from a USB stick. Not sure about other formats such as Divx yet.....
Is it possible to get the video to play whilst the vehicle is in motion? it currently goes blank at 5mph.2016 Discovery Sport HSE Luxury 2.0 Ingenium Automatic

I can watch DVDs loaded into the infotainment centre below the screen or from a USB stick under the cubby box lid. Tried Xvid, avi, and mpeg4 with success up to now. All works on the move thanks to a little black box from Pete @ Bell Autos Club Forum Criminal !!!
