Multiplug driver's footwell

While rummaging around last night I found a multiplug at the base of the panel below the steering wheel. Any one know what it is for?

Thanks. What we need is a GSM connection to the car. Then it would be able to self diagnose and correct via connection to "Big LR Brother".

Isn't that what the Paris Dakkar team that used Freelanders or it may have been Bowlers did. A mobile phone connected to the car to connect with diagnostics back home Shocked DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
