Multi Mount Winch
I'm thinking of getting a Multimount instead of a dedicated winch for my D3. I was hoping to make a front skid plate that will incorporate a receiver for the winch. Must admit that I have not looked at the underside of the D3 for some time so don’t know if this would even be possible. Or as Slimer suggested a receiver attached to the chassis poking out of the front grill or bumper. Any info would be appreciated More uk info hereIn the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Was talking to Non Stick Nick re a rear mounted Winch he suggested using a hitch plate similar to Slimers. Give Nick a PM I'm sure he will be able to help
The rear is simple enough using a receiver like mine (as you said) it's working out where to mount one on the front that's the issue. A receiver attached to the chassis then sticking out of the front bumper or grill would do the job, mounting it securely to the chassis is the tricky bitThe End

Was thinking of that one as well...
But then I was thinking:
"Where am I gonna put that one when not using..."
"What does it weight..."
So I quickly decided not to go for it In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

The only things that worry me about a single point mount are the shear load and trapezoidal loading if one side of the vehicle has a greater degree of 'stuckness' than the other. There may also be some rotational torque on the mount if the vehicle is being pulled over undulating ground other than that - no problem 8)

Thanks Chap, I have made a call to them, its made in Germany is approved to some standards. Waiting to hear back for full specs.
I picked a Multimount winch up at the show on Saturday to see how heavy they are you would not want one in your bait box.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

p**s easy just run some 35mm welding cable down the side of the chassis rails, a bit of heat - shielding near the exhaust with an Isolator fitted near the battery and yer done!
You only need the +ve as the -ve can be connected to the chassis, i'd uprate the -ve battery link though
