Mud terrain tyres for a disco 3 - what have you tried? |
|
Hello,
Looking for experiences with mud terrains. Got a disco 3 that I have a set of 17" and 18" rims for. Looking to have a set of off road tyres and road tyres.
The 17" rims are better suited to an off road tyre due to the bigger side wall. But they could not be fitted to a disco 4 if I changed the car. So also looked at 18" rim tyres. Understand that 18" tryes on a disco 4 would need either compomotive or tufantt wheels.
So looking on line I have narrowed my search down to:
17":
265/70/R17 31.6 diameter 10.4 wide Cooper discoverer STT Pro
18":
265/60/R18 30.5 diameter 10.4 wide BFG Mud terrain T/A KM - cant find for sale! But technically exist on BFG website
I'm tempted by the cooper discoverer stt pro's.
What mud terrains have you run and what do you think of them?
What tyres do you know about that I should consider?
Thanks in advance,
Adrian

tut_gareth,
Thanks for the reply. I had looked at that tyre - 255/65/17 - 30.1" diameter, 10" wide.
Must admit never seen one in the flesh and was kind of off put by that. Do you have any personal experience of the bighorn?

I have BF Goodrich KM2ās on 17ā rims on my Disco3. Highly recommended. Drive at 130kph on the motorways down to Morocco without significant wear, vibration or fatigue.
Iām seriously considering having them on my 18ā road rims permanently as my current Purelli Scorpions just don't deal well with mud if used off-road whenI cant be bothered to change rims. 33370 Fargues Saint Hilaire
