So today I put in a litre of Slik and now it is showing 'over filled' and according to the handbook to drive it now could cause serious damage to the engine.
It advises me to take it to an authorised dealer for rectification - how on a truck !!
Does anybody have any other advice ?

The supplying dealer overfilled mine (MY14 with 13000m) by nearly two litres probably in a rush to get it ready for me to collect. Drove home (70 miles) and next morning dipstick read overfilled do not drive. To cut a long story short LR Assistance wouldn't suck the excess out and it was transported to my regular dealership who sorted it out. They drained and measured the excess and refilled with fresh. All this was carefully noted for the future just in case. All fine so far after 6000m.
I was specifically warned that the car should not be driven although it was driven on/off the transporter.
Didn't matter so much in the old days when the excess would just have found it's way out around the seals.
Apparently too much oil in these engines can cause the crank to snap.
Fortunately for me it was the supplying dealer who cocked up. You seem to have two choices, transporter or suck it out yourself. If it's not been driven far you might get away with the latter.

I think nowadays with syn oils, adding any sort of additive is probably a bad idea.
Lets be honest modern engines dont really wear out these days, even when abused.

I assume you mean Slick50?

So that is something new, the oil does not get used even over 10600 miles ?
Yes, it was SLIK 50 the thing that Ent has never heard of Wink but then again once he gets out and about a bit he may get to hear of it then !
Also I expect he hasn't heard of adding 2t or a squirt of redex to diesel either Wink

Not only have you attempted to defy the laws of physics by turning your engine in to some sort of tardis you even got the dosage wrong Rolling Eyes
From the manufacturers info it's 750ml for a 3lt engine but I suppose that's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things Thumbs Up

Normally an engine that is working optimally and serviced according to specs with the correct oil should not be consuming oil in between services.

For example, in 6 years, my Puma has never needed a top-up between services, and neither has my wife's 2 Audis, nor our previous 110 & D2 Td5.

Some VAG TFSis do, due to the nature of their design, but that's beside the point.

Half your oil is gone - where did it go Question

Naks...
Internal combustion engines petrol or diesel have to consume oil.....it's the nature of thier design & the way they are constructed....
Oil is splashed & oil vapour gets to the cylinder walls where it does its job.....lubricating the cylinder walls...essential.
Some oil may leak out.
There has by rights to be some consumption...if there isn't it means vestiges of oil aren't getting to the top of the piston.....the highest piston ring..these actually make the piston in cylinder compression.
My disco 3 consumes about 3/4 of a litre in 14k miles.....& has done since new.
Oil consumption varies dependant on age of engine....miles done, the operating conditions...speed, load, temperature...the way it's looked after & the type & state of the engine oil.

Ent, you are so right. The dosage I put in was 750 ml as you well know.
In my haste I stated the incorrect dosage as most plastic bottles are litre bottles these days.
The nice gentleman from Landrover Customer Services treated me much gentler as it seems my mistake isn't as rare as some on here would try and make me believe.
He 'played' with the vehicle and showed me that the indicator isn't always correct as one of his readings said I was half empty !!
It took him all of ten minutes to sort out.
