How much should I pay for wheels?
Chaps, advice needed. Before I shell out nearly 700 quid on 4 new tyres this weekend, I notice there are quite a few sets of new 19" rims and tyres going on ebay recently. I can't help thinking that I would be better off getting a second set of wheels, possibly with new tyres on to be a best set, and to then get some off road rubber for my current scuffed set.
What should I be paying for a set of 4 19" alloys with new tyres on ebay? any advice welcome.
Drop Ally a PM and find out what the last set went for.The End

Bite the bullet, get your on-road tyres and then a set of 17" with Cooper STT's, yer, they'll take up squatters rights in your garage, but (IMHO) worth every penny 19" off-road tyres are rare as hens teeth....

Gareth 17 or 19 go for it. 17" as you know have more side wall and certainly proved them selves in Wales once I found the right tyre pressure. The particular grassy slope where the 2 before me slippped and slid slightly, I went down and actually decided the course I wanted to take. I think even RLD was surprised by their performance as he watched.
I would almost guarantee that if CC had them on he would not have got a puncture either with their armoured side walls. Wranglers 19" are 'puncture proof' side walls, not armoured.

I've decided that I will be putting something like the Cooper STT Tyres. that you've been trying, onto the 17" rims I've got. I had thought that I'd not bother, and just use the Goodyear Wranglers that arrived on the 17" rims, but following the puncture in the sidewall of my 18" Goodyear Wranglers I think I need a bit more help/protection.
Not rushing though as I've still to sell on three 18" rims with Goodyear Wranglers, to offset the investment in 4 new 18" rims with Pirelli Zeros. Need to convice Mrs Coffeecup that it was cost effective to replace all 4 wheels and tyres than to go out and buy 1 new rim and 1 new Goodyear Tyre. Coffeecup
