Did 550 miles today at ~70mph, averaged 25mpg (actual). No caravan, no rack, no MTRs. BM would have done 45mpg in same driving, but it might not have liked the snow.

Here's an interesting one:-
Late Dec 2010 drove towing caravan from East Anglia to Austria and computer said 20mpg which was disappointing. Summer 2011 did the same journey using the same roads and achieved 25mpg. The only difference was I serviced it, not dealer, before the summer trip and changed all the filters ( the air filter was pretty gross).

Bunged up air filter could do that. I change mine annually, not every 3 yrs/45k miles LR thinks is acceptable. Dissapointed with 20mpg on the trip? Reality would be somewhere between 15 - 18mpg.

I had the same thing with my Disco 2 when out of warranty the air filter was well passed it's sell by date. I always change every 12,000 miles. They might get bigger change intervals with modern oils but the air is getting dirtier so how do they justify extending air filter changes?

Just done a run from Lancaster to Worcestershire down M6/5 with caravan (1400kg) and 4 up in the Disco, auto with no cruise control, steady 60 most of the way and got average of 24.9 mpg indicated. Not bad me thinks for 4 tonnes plus

Don't get too excited if that's from the trip comp. Reality will be anything from 19.9mpg to 22.9mpg.

Not too worried about exact figures, comparing with what I get from computer generally (mid 20s around town and 33ish on a run) then seems ok.
