I just completed a round trip of 450 miles from Cheshire to Crawley over the weekend in my new to me D4 8 speed sdv6 HSE and I did a full tank to full tank refill and it gave me a mpg of 38.78 with the average on the computer saying 39.6 so not as big a difference as expected, given the conditions were perfect I.e. very light traffic, no rain etc I find this figure truly amazing for a vehicle weighing in at 2.7 tonnes plus and the aerodynamics of a brick,I must also add there were 3 different drivers involved in the journey, speed wise we floated between 60-70 mph so not flying but not snail like,I have a d3 auto which gave a best of 32 mpg,so a more powerful ( much more powerful) larger engine gives a 20% increase in mpg when combined with a more efficient gearbox, all in all a fantastic vehicle which I think will never be matched for its all around ability ever again, will a D5 achieve this in the years to come.......I doubt it

Thats impressive. I will be doing appx 700 mile trip soon and plan on doing a pump to pump check, curious what I get (will be 2 people up, but a fair amount of weight in the back), but would be happy with 38mpg. MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff

I was genuinely very surprised at the figure, but as they say ,the figures don’t lie ( unless your a politician) ,I used the correct Landrover spec oil in the last change with some BG109 flush ( let the engine idle for an hour)plus a genuine fuel filter and this seemed to have an effect of 3 mpg in the positive direction, generally I find it’s the combination of simple things that effect efficiency,of course now I’ve rambled on about this the crank will seize 😒😒

I have MichelinPilot Sport 4 SUV255/50R20 109Y on the car, virtually new, came with the car ,a fairly good tyre from all accounts, certainly dealt with all the horrendous rain over the last few days,I was traveling early morning with a 2.5 tonne trailer on the back and hit standing water at 50mph in the dark,it was that deep it totally engulfed the car and nearly brought it to a holt, definitely a squeaky bum moment but I’m still here to tell the story,I checked the engine bay and it was virtually dry !again any other vehicle it would have been a wrecked engine and probably a worse ending for my self

Thanks. Good to hear.
I can’t find that specific size in that tyre, but almost all the other sizes in that tyre are rated C for economy. You all did well. Must have very light right feet. I think the most I have got on a long run is about 37 on the computer.
Cheers Gary

Asda tyres, which has a very close connection with Black Circles I believe, they aren’t cheap but you tend to get what you pay for with tyres in my humble opinion

I travel 265 mile trips from midlands to Cornwall once a month and at let's say 'getting a move on' average speed!! Motorway and A30 dual carrriageway all the way. I get an indicated 27-29mpg (depending on wind direction believe it or not) but I know if I do a brim to brim test it is ALWAYS about 2 mpg less. This 2015 D4 is a great motorway burner. Comfortable and great visibility make it a pleasure.

I think there are many variables to MPG figures,I had a remap and this seemed to have the most effect on good MPG figures and I use BP or Shell derv and drive sensibly ( legally) and service the car with good quality components

109y ? I could be wrong and probably am, but I seem to remember somewhere that for the disco 3/4 they sould be minimum 111?
If so would that make the 109's an insurance get out ?
