I was told by a VOSA chief examiner that if you had to put it in numbers out of ten.
A new vehicle would have a score of 8 to 9
A freshly serviced car would be 6 to 8
A car in need of a service would be a 4 to 6
The mot standard would only be a 3
and he said that the MOT is the lowest standard that you are allowed to drive your vehicle on the road and people still complain when there car fails.
