MOT Advisory - Track Rods...

Hi All,
Earlier in the year my Disco 3 got thru yet another MOT... Thumbs Up yay!
However, does have a couple of advisories I want to sort before the next one Confused

Nearside Front Play in steering rack inner joint(s)
Offside Front Play in steering rack inner joint(s)

So was thinking to replace the inner and outer track rods on both and be done as it doesnt seem too bad a job (famous last words Laughing )

Couple of questions for the experts out there -

Without going to our local LR dealer (as going be a small fortune) where's a decently priced place to get them from (I have a Disco 3 2005)
I've seen there could be 2 different sizes (14mm/12mm)?
Any special tools or just spanners, big grips and a large hammer Smile
Saw something about replacing a seal also, worthwhile?
Also may be a dumb question but had issues with the steering angle sensor which I fixed with the old glue fix on the plastic bit that breaks and re-calibrated. Obviously, it looks like I'll need to get the wheels aligned once done but will this cause the sensor to throw a wobbly once aligned or will the alignment company do that (not a major as I've got the GAP tool)?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers
BoB

If you can see the play yourself, then yes, worth doing. (did mine and I don't think it made any difference at MOT time!)

If the steering wheel is straight before, and straight afterwards, then I doubt cal is required

Hey Disco, I always use Maltings, good parts and Censored quick delivery. Looks like they have everything you need https://maltings4x4store.co.uk/categories/...ering.html

Advance factors is also one of our sponsors, so worth checking them out as well https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/steering-rack--ends-122-c.asp

Not sure if this will help, but I did track rods back in 2021 and did a little write up:

The bit you might be interested in is on page 6. It is a long thread with all sorts of fixes I have done but hopefully it will help you out.
