I think you are miss understanding what i meant about the air suspension  - but its pointless to go backwards and forwards because the point i was trying to make here was to avoid water getting into the engine you want to go to full off road height - the engine was still running initially so it wasn't anything to do with getting water in there.
Terrain response and terrain response auto wont put it into off road height when towing, you would have to press the switch, that would have raised other issues, like i say pointless to go into here because this wasnt the point - i am fortunate to off road he d5 most days and although i get the tractor to do the towing off road now and most of the work, I did do a fair bit with the d5 and d4 off road - they just arent as good as a tractor towing in the bog that seems to be my nearest fields - i can certainly get the trailers anywhere i want them with no dramas with the tractor in a way the disco only dreams (not a fair comparison) Mike

Amazed. Something fishy going on I think, both vehicles were still in the (much receded) water a couple of days ago, pretty much unmoved. D5 appears to have been left unlocked and kids have been in.

I wouldn't think it was left unlocked but it may have gone into safe mode when the water level got above a certain depth and the electrics were at risk. The car will probably auto unlock to allow passengers to escape, or risk the doors staying locked when submerged.
shame some little scrotes have been in though.... although it wouldn't make a difference as insurance will either pay out for the whole car to be written off or they wont pay at all due to negligent driving. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Just thinking - as the video has people laughing and enjoying watching it fail - whether it might have been nicked in the first place and driven in there by some scrote who was "just having a bit of fun, mate".

I'd like to think that someone would have made the effort to secure and remove the D2 and trailer; seems such a dreadful waste otherwise 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

As much as i like face lifted d2's (1st gen not so much), they are 15yr old trucks, its probably got a rusted rear and odd bits of corrosion, seat will be worn as will the steering and gear sticks, as its a trailer job who knows what else is up with it..£2k max but no loss generally.
The trailer is probably the thing worth saving - ignoring the £40-80k D5 which is probably the one to save if its no shagged the engine.
But the d2 could just go Mike

D5 no hope.
Trailer will go again with minimal cost.
D2 why bother? it will only break/rot sooner rather than later.
Would be nice to know the back story as it is all over facebook and I assume other sites as well.

D2’s are still popular in rural areas, lots here in the West Country, with a loyal following who prefer to keep them going rather than replace them. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
