Mods done: Wipers, ECU......next cup-holders and tyres

Following advice on here, I have recently fitted the Valeo Silencio X-TRM Flat Wiper Blades size UM665. Got them from speeding.co.uk at £14.99 each seems a great price. Really pleased. Stopped the scraping noise, and the rain sensitive wipers seem to work more consistently now. I guess the sensor is getting "cleaner". Rear wiper only 6 quid.

Also have gone for the BAS box for tuning. Have only had a quick play, as it's a suprise xmas present for my wife (it's her Disco) so i've had to flip back to the standard map. Very easy to change between maps, only takes a few mins. First impressions are really strong pull at motorway speeds. Will post more on this when I get a chance to really test it, and to compare mpg.

Now I am waiting on the upgraded cupholders. Must check that Nick has not forgotten me on his list.

Also need to look at tyres soon. What's a good price on Pirelli ATRs ??

Been thinking about a map for mine but its also the wife's and she doesnt see the point. She thinks its fast enuf, maybe if the MPG goes up I could convince her.

Also want the cup holders and you have reminded me to order

Just been to get price on tires too, 18's for mine.

I got a price from Kwik-Fit of £650 for the Scorpian;s - have no benchmark to see if that is good price tho.

However, my son gets someone to come to the farm to fit on site and for his Navara he saved a lot on his - some sort of big tread things for complete off road.

Best price I have so far for 19" is from Ken.
Pirelli ATR's are 150 each delivered
Pirelli Scorpions are 120 each delivered

I think fitting is about £15 a wheel.

I will probably go for the ATRs. Might try a wait a bit so that I can see the impact on mpg of the BAS box, without change in tyres in the mix too. But with all the snow coming......would move some new grippy rubber !

On ECU, I think "mpg" and "responsiveness" are an easier sell to your wife than power increase.

There's nothing to actually fit - you just need to plug it into the D3, read the map, send the file by e-mail and when you receive it back, connect the box to the car and program it....

It really is extremely easy, very painless and self explanatory when you get come to do it - there's no real way to get anything wrong.

It sounds like a fantastic xmas present Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Hi mudcred

BAS box was not very hard to use. You get sent a BAS box and you also have to download some software to your PC, and then link that with the BAS box. Instructions are pretty good, though I had some very slightly different screen come up (must be a different version or setting of windows).

You then plug the BAS box into your Disco and it copies the ECU map from the Disco to the BAS box. Takes about 5 mins, and very easy. You email that file to BAS, with details of your Disco (age, milage, etc) and they modifiy the file and email it back to you. You then load that tuned ECU file from the PC to the BAS box.

Final part, you plug the BAS box into the Disco, and load up the tuned ECU map. Again, dead easy and only takes 5 mins. You can then load the standard or tuned file to the Disco whenever you want. I have gone throught the whole process but now put my wife's back to standard, so all that needs to be done is plug in the box and load the tuned file.

You never have the BAS box connect to the Disco and the PC at the sametime, so it does not matter if you have PC or laptop. It's very easy. I think you need to have XP or Vista.

There is also some ECU fault code functionality on the BAS box, but I haven't played with that yet.

It would be a great present !
