Modifying heated seat behaviour |
|
Does anyone know if it is possible to switch off the automatic control of the heated seat control. In other words, stop them going from full heat (two lights) to half heat (one light) after a variable period and allow this to be switched manually? Zambezi Silver SE / Ebony Leather

If you are asking for an easy hack to keep them on... not to my knowledge. If you press twice from off, it does go to half heat immediately... but it's still on the "timer."

Can I flag up this question again. It would be nice to have full heat longer as my wife is a little disappointed - her behind is not as hot as when in our previous car. Looks alright from where I am though.

Just tell her to press the button twice, and full heat will resume.

The alogrithm that controls the heated seat is dependent upon external temperature, cabin temperature (% of target temperature) seat temperature, solar gain and battery voltage, so the easy way to modify the behaviour is to add a resistor either in series or parallel (dependent on whether the thermistor is a +ve or -ve temperature coefficient) after calculating the thermistor value against the seat target temperature and then calculating the required offset. Alternatively, build an astable timer to replicate the PWM signal and use this instead of the ATCU output

I've tried running this through Babelfish but it can't translate it into English! Sounds damned impressive though and I, for one, won't argue with your solution! 2013 D4 HSE Luxe in Indus Silver

Had some clients on a half-day LRE 'introduction' voucher some time ago, apparently the one thing they (or rather the precocious little 14 year old t t in the back) found 'most annoying' about the RRS was 'having to press the heated seat button every 20 minutes'
Not a word about the handling, the TDV8, the comfort, safety, on or off road ability, build quality JUST THE EFFIN' HEATED SEATS IN THE BACK

No - he said use a resistor to fool the car into thinking the temperature isn't what it is
Easier to press the button twice Disco 5 HSE Lux

Wouldn't changing the thermistor value of the seat sensor with a resistor increase the temperature of the seat and risk it overheating if you get it wrong
Safer to buy some thermals

Thats all I get on a long journey....Silence during the journey, with the only noise being the click, click from her extended index finger, then back to silence
