Moderater Baiting

I don't get it.

Am I missing something? There seems to be a lot of bickering on here lately, for some strange reason. Is it post xmas blues? Time of the month? Or plain boredom.

I'm not a prolific poster but I felt compelled to ask the question. The forum seems to be under attack from within for some reason. I know that as an internet site we don't all know each other or even see each other on a regular basis if at all. And those that do will have a friendly allegiance the their group. And if we're not carefull Ross Kemp will be along soon to do a 1 hr special on gangs on forums Whistle

I know the feeling, I sit here and look at this forum with dispear at the moment, martin must be quite fed up of recent events.

For a time I was posting on here quite a bit but don't so often now as I feel it's not the forum it used to be, and I know I am not on my own in feeling this.

Even though I am still a D3 owner and the site is packed full of useful info I have found myself losing interest in it and staying away because there is always a row going on, I keep thinking about removing my disco sticker from the D3 as I don't feel it's right for me to promote this site when I feel the way I do about it. But perhaps this will change as I hope things will improve over time.

Im sad to say it but any new visitors to this site may have been put off joining the forum over the last few weeks as reading posts and threads full of bickering is not going to win many votes.

I feel for Martin and the sponsors who pay good money to adveritse here. Sad
I have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!

So Martin, is there a recommended bait? I understand we might get DG's attention with a nice pie on a hook and Winger seems partial to Cider, but the others are a bit of a puzzle. Confused
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Mark,

It seems interesting to me if the people in question were to meet in a pub the conversation would be completely different to that posted in the forum. I think there are a few factors in play here:

Things get misinterpreted even with emoticons
People post when they’ve had a few beers
People aren’t afraid of confrontation online as they would be in real life
Banter can be misunderstood
Some people object to change or people with different ideas and opinions

I hope the forum returns to some level of normality, it does seem to be getting back to normal. There has been a lot of good info going around over the last couple of days and also some good banter as well.
The SE meet last night was very good and everyone seemed in pretty good spirits. Even the two convicts!

Unfortunately I did, removed mine entirely through events last year with the same members in troubles this year. Prior to that I stopped my monthly small donation for the same reason.

Being upfront and honest, I took on somebody on here and received a few nasty PM's (rings a familiar bell), it seemed nowt was done so I demanded a Mod to deal with it or I will, and promtly got a ban. I took my punishment, lurked as a guest and watched people Gloat, and watched Martin and the Mods defend me.

They are doing a cracking job, if they step in too soon they are condemned, too late they are questioned. IMHO they are impartial and not open to question, take them on and its "see you in 2 weeks".

My input now has dropped from the cringeworthy daily post count of last year, to a moderate low level, and mainly to assist in searches or questions on my D3, my decision to lower my input is because of the venom that lurks just round the corner, and to coin a phrase "you can write the names down before they post replys" comes to mind.

Lets hope the forum picks itself up for something that went on recently, ALL I KNOW is we as a community of people with one Interest has lost 2 sponsors, 2 friends, and unknown amounts of possible new members, but consistantly the Mods/Owner must maintain their level of dicipline for the good of us all.

Although I am a relative new comer with a mediocre post count, I will say this:

Stop being pussies about it, this is the internet. Who cares if people argue, let them - just don't get involved. you can still have banter with the same people you always have and still get the technical information you need. If people PM you with abuse, hit the ignore button! I use a lot of forums for many different things and can't see why people get bothered by what goes on between other members, it just seems daft to me!

People act differently on the net to what they do in real life, so don't worry about it. Get everyone together with their cars covered in mud, or everyone camping in a field heavily drunk and they'll get along nicely.

Thumbs Up

There is always a fine line between 'banter' and 'bully' however the use of PM for abuse is a real No No and should not have to be tollereated by anyone (ignore or not)

can we not get a 'I'm winding you up ' emotion Snigger

Other than that its diffiuclt to call for a Mod in regards to bully or banter as people have different tollerences to banter/abuse. . . .

Me... well I'm from Wigan for gods sake. . . trust me you can not offend me no matter what get chucked my way Rolling with laughter

I suggest everyone perks up a little its nearly christmas Thumbs Up
