Mobile Phone Reception

Is it just me or is the mobile phone reception in the Discovery 4 very poor? I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and find that I frequently drop calls. I had the same phone in my previous car (Audi A6 Avant) and found the phone reception much better (still not as good as the Nokia 6230 that was connected to a roof mounted antenna when I first had the Audi in 2007!).

My own theory is that the heated windscreen and the Travall dog guard I have to stop all my tools joining me in the front are acting as some sort of Faraday's cage.

It has become a bigger and bigger annoyance, as I find that frequently I have to dial the same person two or three times to finish a conversation!

Any one have any similar experience?

Have to say I haven't had a problem with phone reception in mine, can't remember it dropping any calls at all using a HTC Desire and HTC One X. One anomaly I have noticed is that the gps on my tablet won't work in my 2012 D4 Confused , it worked fine in my 2011 D4 and every other car I've tried it in but for some reason it just refuses to lock onto any satellites in this one, very strange. Sad

My iPhone often refuses to lock onto the GPS satellites when the laptop is up & running in the glovebox for displaying maps on a slave screen. Turn the carpooter stuff off and GPS on the iPhone is fine, switch it back on & it's back to well iffy. I put it down to electrical interference, could be the same in the D4 MY12 over MY11??

I have a iPhone 4S and find the phone reception is much worse than any other car I have driven, including a RR Westminster and Sport, both 62 plates. Also the phone connectvity keeps cutting out mid-call with full phone signal.

The UV screen in the windscreen can affect GPS signals but I don't think it affects the phone signal as I had no phone reception problems with a BMW X5 with a UV screen.
