...OK, I've checked now - don't have the heatshield, do have an insulating foam sleeve over the aircon pipework closest to the engine (AKA, just what TFC said... )Dr. Ian Malcolm:

I've got the foam on mine (top pic) & shield on Mrs DSL's so poss between the two cars being built they have abandoned that shield for a bit of sponge??

I have got an MY (manufacturing year?) 06 D3, I do not have a heat protector that comes up as high as that, I do have one that is next to the exhaust and stops at the same level as the bottom of the battery

Now have the missing heat shield fitted by stealer under warranty!
Whether it should be there is another issue but now sorted!
