Misfueling Device - is it fitted?
Hello everyone,
Hope you're all well.
I'm writing here today to clarify that the diesel misfueling protection device is fitted as standard on Discovery 4? Mine is a 2015 Model Year, and it's target market was the British Isles (Isle of Man).
I think it is fitted - obviously so. However, I thought to ask as on the build-sheet provided by TOPIx there is no mention of the diesel misfueling device, nor can I find the reset tool in the vehicle.
Naturally, I don't intend on inserting the incorrect nozzle, either at a petrol station or by using a jerry-can.
I've never had it trip on me - what would your advice be? Source a replacement or treat myself to a takeaway tonight instead?

It's built into the fuel filler. The neck of the filler is designed to only take a diesel nozzle, a petrol one is larger and won't open the filler. To fill from a jerry-can you need to use the white funnel which comes with the vehicle.

I don't believe I have either the yellow reset wand nor a white funnel in my car.
Do you reckon it's worthwhile to get one?All the best,

The white funnel yes, if you ever get to the point of filling the car from a can to get to the local petrol station (as I seem to do frequently)
Reset device, maybe handy to have if you can find one cheap on eBay or in a local scrappy.I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I shall be sure to keep an eye out for a bargain on the two accessories.
I've took away from this thread that I'm also missing the all-important white funnel! What use is a reset key if you're going to trip it immediately after by trying again? All the best,
Austin

The yellow reset device is not needed on the D4 as the design of the filler opening is different and does away with the need for it.
The white funnel is all that is needed to allow refuelling from a jerry-can.

Woody, that would be very kind of you.
However, looking online, the part (LR073691) only retails for a few pounds on the internet - and ofcourse I would like to reimburse you for your time and postage costs. I worry that it would become price uncompetitive with the retailers but I thank you for your offer. All the best,

It's exactly the opposite ! The petrol nozzle is smaller and going deeper in the filler, that trigger the misfueling protection valve. Note this can accidentally happen even with diesel nozzle in some cases, by example if the flow is very strong (this happen to me). So you absolutely need to have on hand the reset tool.

Totally different design between 2011 and 2015. There is no reset device for a 2015 MY but there is for a 2011.
