Mid Wales Today
Went to Barmouth for a morning on the beach with my four year old grandson and the wife,18c and wall to wall sunshine why not. I set off for home about 2.30 and decided on the scenic way back. Came back via Bala Lake then over the mountain single track road to Lake Vyrnwy, just stunning in the sunshine, I took a few pictures
The little chap woke up as soon as I stopped to take the picture, he was shattered after running around the beach all morning

That lake Vyrnwy lane has to be one of my favourite lanes ever.
We did pretty much the same as you one holiday. Had been out for the day and were saying in a lodge just outside Llangadfan.
On the way back in my usual way I decided to just take a turning and see where it went.
So glad I did!

I think we're talking about this road - It's a beautiful remote road, great to drive. This point is the middle of it, Vyrnwy is to the south, Bala to the north.

Yes that's the road James posted. When you get to the top which is called the Hirnant Pass it rises to 1850 feet, to me its one of the most beautiful places on earth, the silence is deafening apart from the Red Kites calls. Enjoy
