Meyle Brake Discs and pads.
Hi all I’m getting light judder on light braking. When I got the car the discs are getting quite thin so I think best to change them. Have spent ages looking and searching here and many differences of option as is the case with these things. One thing I have picked up on is genuine discs don’t alway seem to be best and can judder too. Hence the title has anyone fitted Meyle discs and pads or Delphi and any opinions there of?
They seem reasonable on price (advanced factors) but I’ve never really strayed from Genuine before? Any comments appreciated

Whilst Meyle HD is good stuff, from looking around on the net recently, the standard (non-HD) Meyle kit doesn't seem very well respected. That's not specifically concerning LR parts, but other marques, mainly VAG.Kev

Search out Apec brake discs and pads.
I've used them without issue on both D2 and D4 now.
My local shop stock them, but they are available online if you search.
Be sure to allow the new ones to bed in. It's the heat cycles in the first few hundred miles that can make or break them..2011 MY D4 HSE

I have used Delphi discs and pads on my old full fat Range Rover.
On the Disco I replaced the front discs and pads with Textar ones purchased from Advanced Factors and have been fine for the 15k miles I have done.

I have tested Borg and Beck-started juddering after a couple of months; TRW-started juddering after 12 months and now Brembo-started juddering after 2 months. If you find something that works long term for the D4 front brakes please tell me... There are also other factors influencing the juddering. The Brembos I have now judder much more with my worn 19" studded wintertires than with my 20" rather new summer tires.

I got Brembo all round and breaking is excellent and bedin of new pads was superb. After a few K miles not a single grove on discs yet very happy and only just over 200 quid spent plus my own labour.

That was what I found when searching the forums before buying the Brembos but still juddering rather fast in my case...
Do we now have an answer to why the juddering appear? I have read all from warped discs to brake pad material migrating on to the disc when holding the car at red lights.

is it your breakes ? i had massive judder even visible on steering wheel due to badly work tires
it was most prominent on hard acceleration or anything over 45 mph
once boots were replaced all went away

Pretty confident it is the brakes but I assume things like tyres or suspension can make it worse. I have judder also with my fairly new GG AT3 and earlier with new more roadbased tyres. I drive 40.000 km per year so using a bit of rubber and brakes.

Never had a problem with genuine Brembo discs, heard that others have with cheap ones made under licence though.2011 Discovery 4 Commercial SDV6 (Gone)

We are talking about brake judder aren´t we? Can´t see how that can be caused by a bad center propshaft bearing?

I have used genuine discs, brembo discs and now on delphi discs. Pads have been genuine, TRW low dust and possibly something else. No juddering issues with any of them.

My 1st D4 got chopped in for my 2nd D4 as I never cured brake judder even after a number (4 if I recall) of disc and pad changes, and lower joints done, new tyres fitted, different wheels fitted, it always came back after a few thousand miles - and mine were OEM discs (Brembo) and pads.
