what does message mean?
I have an 06 manual base model and a message has started appearing - since the cold weather started - just flashing up on first start up saying "special programs off". I looked in the manual and this is meant to appear if you have deselected a program which I havent. Car is fine otherwise.

normally related to battery condition in the cold weather on starts, if you have never had a new one then it's probably time I'm afraid also if you do lots of short jouneys it doesn't help...and theeeeennn......???

Yep, prob your battery on the way out. If original 06 battery it's about due. LR one, £115 ISTR with allegiance disc out and 3 year warranty - changed mine last year and those issues disappeared.

Edited above with costs. This isn't the time to skimp on getting it changed, it will get to a point where it will pack up so (in my mind) best to change it on your timescale, not its.

so true DSL! I always say driving the D3 after the Defender is like slipping into a comfy pair of slippers after walking barefoot!

Hi Annabelle,
One other point to consider is that battery testers do not, necessarily, work with the LR (Calcium) battery.
Do you have a battery charger? If so, try it as a first step.
Best Wishes,
