McCarthy style witch hunts in the UK?

Not often I get upset with a news program.......

Channel 4 News was reporting the leaking of BNP membership lists and suggesting that Police, Teachers etc who are on these lists should be sacked. Shocked Twisted Evil

NickGiff was being grilled by Christian Guru Murthy and I was incensed by the supposition on the part of CGM that parents would want a teacher to be sacked if one were found on this list. Twisted Evil

This is a perfectly legal British (English?) political party who are winning elections. Confused

If a Christian parent took umbrage about a Muslim teacher - asking them to be sacked, they would be ridiculed and potentially arrested.

I've never seen such a biased report on TV. Middle-Left politics and Media humping together for all to see. Twisted Evil

Similar style interview by BBC new channel today. Nick Griff pointed out this fact as well, also quoting the black policemans association could potentially be biased against non black citizens, the muslim teachers association could also be negative towards christian teaching, but their outbursts are seen as PC in this crazy country that we live in. Straight after the interview they wheel on asian group leader and ask questions about racism, when that was not the issue discussed with the BNP.

I neither support or reject anything the BNP state, but there is a balance in this country that needs addressing with a lot of common Censored sense.

Much the same on Radio 5 - Anita Anand asked ex policeman who was on the list whether 'black, asian, moslem or jewish people would be welcome in the party? and the guy responded, 'well I am jewish, so yes!'

Apparently, police are banned from being members, because they might be racist, but as the guy pointed out, if he was a labour member, does that mean he would protect trade unionists, or a tory member he would let off the landed gentry from speeding tickets? You are not banned from being in a political party, just from the BNP.

Don't agree with the politics by any means but a definite holier than thou attitude from the media.......

I've been ignorant of the BNP as we don't see them in Scotland. However, what sort of democracy do we live in where public sector employees can be banned from holding specific political affiliations? So police are banned from being members of the BNP but the Masons and the Tufty Club are OK? Rolling Eyes

Most of my teachers at school were left-wing activists and my Modern Studies teacher openly espoused his communist party affiliations. I never thought anything of it. Everyone is entitled to their personal political views (unless of course they are 'jockanese' Rolling Eyes ) and providing they are legal, these views shouldn't affect their positions in employment or anywhere else for that matter.

This is a smidgen away from Orwellian 'thought crime' FFS Twisted Evil

You won't find me disagreeing. I'm incensed by the glee with which the media, lefty to a man, sorry, person, have jumped on this. Illegal to be a member of a political party? Anyone reminded of 1930s Spain?

Why is my site name being associated with this thread? ...There is some sort of inference there that I don't like at all and I will ask politely here that the references be removed.

'Tis the tyranny of the majority. Democracy's great until it doesn't give you the result you want. See also Hamas election victory not recognised by US.

So true.

I always think it's better to know who your enemy is rather than let them operate in secret - with this in mind I prefer the BNP to exist rather than operate in secrecy. I never hear for people who support communism to be banned from jobs etc and certain communist regimes were just as bad as fascist regimes.
Loving the power of the TDV8!
