Has anyone used a Maxxraxx to carry five bikes? If so, how far can you open the tailgate? Will I be able to get a dog out?
Thanks

You will have to tilt it down to even open the top tailgate, undoing the straps first. You can do it but it might be a PITA, but then I suspect all options would be!! DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Have you got a dog guard? If not, then flipping down a middle row seat is a much better option. Leaning the Maxxraxx down with 3 bikes is possible, but hard work, with 5 I think you would definitely struggle on your own. Craig

It does tilt a lot and you can open the top tailgate all the way but it is heavy with more than 2 bikes on it, you will need assistance. Also a member of avforums.com

Thanks for the info.
I will be using a dog guard and a cargo divider, so dropping the middle row of seat is unfortunately not an option. Does the lower tailgate drop at all or is there no room? Lowering the Maxxraxx should not be a problem as I will have my son here to help.
Cheers
